A shell-toe icon is reduced to a slip-on form that sits between performance memory and stage styling.
Jennie’s first adidas collaboration begins with one of the brand’s most familiar objects and removes almost everything people expect from it. Laces disappear, the opening drops and the Superstar becomes a square-toe ballet silhouette.
The result is recognisable without being obedient. That is the useful lesson for celebrity collaboration: the artist’s point of view should change the product, not simply sign it.
Black and white editions keep the experiment controlled, allowing proportion and styling to carry the entire idea.
The object matters, but so does the system around it: who designed it, how it will be worn, where it appears first and whether the release leaves any trace after sell-out day.
UC follows style as a living language between sport, music, streetwear and luxury. Product facts are checked against official brand material; the judgement belongs to the editorial desk.
