Kevin Hart and The Rock bring Jumanji into the real world

Jumanji: Open World keeps the franchise’s central joke—the wrong personality trapped in the wrong body—but changes the direction of travel. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan’s avatars are pushed out of the game and into the real world.

That lets Kevin Hart and The Rock play their familiar contrast against ordinary spaces rather than another digitally expanded jungle. The trailer suggests the comedy will come from demo-mode limitations colliding with real consequences.

The film arrives on Christmas Day, giving the returning ensemble one more family-scale adventure built around chemistry rather than mythology.

The craft is visible in the contrast between scale and intimacy: production design builds the world, but performance decides whether the world has consequence. That balance is where franchise cinema either becomes culture or becomes wallpaper.
